This magnificent yacht was custom built in New Zealand for unlimited worldwide cruising. The builder Kelly Archer was chosen for his international reputation for high quality yachts, and because of his policy of building only one yacht at a time, providing total focus on one project. Construction is aluminium, (welded marine grade) combining light weight and great strength. The yacht was built to Lloyds hull construction certificate requirements HCC.
Designed to go off the well-worn cruising paths of easier climates - sea keeping abilities are well proven in the Van de Stadt pedigree. The pilothouse provides a sheltered watch keeping position with good visibility around the boat. The deep cockpit is safe and dry when sailing, seats six for al fresco dining and is protected by a strong all-weather fixed bimini. In addition she is perfectly equipped to be self-sufficient for long periods, with large fuel tanks giving a range of 3.000 miles, a watermaker producing 200 litres per hour and with two large freezers and four fridges.
Despite her size the yacht is easily handled; the jib and staysail have Harken hydraulic furlers, the mainsail has hydraulic in boom furling, and the steering is hydraulic. She is easily sailed and maintained by a small crew.
Although her displacement is 70 tons, sailing performance is surprisingly good, thanks to her very tall rig and large, powerful mainsail. Even in light winds of 10-15 knots a boat speed of 6-8 knots is normal, and in over 15 knots of wind 8-9 knots is the average cruising speed, regularly giving 200 mile days when offshore sailing.
The yacht has always been maintained by a professional captain. She has recently undergone many upgrades and improvements and is in excellent condition, ready to cruise immediately!
